EX8000 is a 2U rack space unit with 8 analog input channels, 8 analog output channels, ADAT and digital I/O.

EX8000 provides 8 independent 'XD-PRE' high precision & ultra low noise microphone preamplifiers (ultra low input noise -135.5dBu) each with inserts and high-class 123dB(a) AD-converters. In addition, there are 8 independent outputs with 120dB(a) DA-converter. That makes EX8000 a perfect companion for the MaXiO PCI hostcards (from the MaXiO XD and MaXiO 032 systems), however EX8000 can also be used as a standalone ADC/DAC or digital format converter unit.

EX8000 can be used with all ADAT-compatible devices (like audio interfaces from other vendors, digital mixers, multi-channel recording devices, etc.). Also EX8000 is working as a multichannel AD-converter (8 inputs) and multichannel DA-converter (8 outputs) with 4 AES/EBU (or 4 S/PDIF) inputs and outputs. The advanced technology architecture of the AKM chips that are used for analog to digital conversion and digital to analog conversion ensure high resolution as well as stable dynamics and perfect pristine sound reproduction. As format converter, EX8000 converts between AES/EBU and ADAT: it is possible to convert 4 AES/EBU signals with common wordclock to a single ADAT signal (also backwards). All input signals can be converted into all output signals - everything is possible (well, EX8000 does not make coffee).
